Basically, we place a cookie on our site for your CB ID. Any outbound links use a redirect which grabs your cookie as the referrer.

If I would like to build my own sales page, is there a way for me to direct link to the shopping cart with my CB ID included?
Allen, there is, but it’s not recommended because the cookie might not track properly. I really don’t wish to encourage affiliates to make their own salespages, but will give a hint that some affiliates use 1x1pixel iframes to set cookies. However, this can also mess up our membership system if you don’t use our ordering link and sku.

The simplest way to do this is just use the affiliate image code we provide above. Copy and paste it into a text widget.. then replace the image and URL with the ones you wish to use.. this will create a simple image link for you.
Hey Dan- Not only are my Socrates sites picking up some steam, I made my first affiliate sale through Clickbank. Not sure what site it came from but I’m pretty pumped by it. Bob, it’s really designed for affiliates who have their own video editing software like Camtasia.. you would import the file into the video software and add a caption or text overlay.

I tried doing a search on Youtube using this keyword phrase: how to edit quicktime videos on windows movie maker
It rendered a number of videos, but for some strange reason they would not load when I attempted to watch them. Perhaps you can have a go, just in case the site just timed out on me.

I have a click bank account. I can’t recall and can’t find where I used a nickname. I have a clickbank user name,that is included with my gmail account.Is that what I use? Or do I use the identification # when I insert your ad on my site? I am referring to: http://xxx.wpthemes.hop.clickbank.net
Cary, Clickbank usernames are not included with gmail accounts. But I would do a search of your gmail account for “clickbank” to see if you can locate your nickname, or use their password reminder to try to guess what you might have chosen.. All you need is the nickname to add to our layout panel.
I love the Socrates program so much I want to promote it. Because of the Socrates program I’ve been able to create two successful websites one in the diet niche and the other a product review site.
There are people out there who want to set up a blog or a website and I know they’re gonna love Socrates. Thanks Joel and Dan for inventing it.

Read the Affiliate section twice but I’m missing something. I just got my ClickBank code & successfully loaded the affiliate code above.
Trouble is, I don’t want the “classroom” ad, I want the “This site powered by Socrates TM ad” instead & see no html code for that.
Help please.

It’s the 2nd ad at the bottom of Socrates > Layout. Just leave the first clickbank id field blank an enter your ID in the 2nd field.

You can use any affiliate banner in the exchange.. that’s what most users do. I added a 728×90 banner.. thanks for reminding me.
Dan, I am trying to use the 728×90 banner in rotation but am confused by the instructions.. here’s the HTML code.. I understand to replace the xxxx with my clickbank ID, but what else do I change to use this banner?? It says I have to use my own URL to map to the banner, but that is confusing me..? thanks
First you have double quotes on the end of the URL which will cause it to break. You need to right click on the 728×90 banner and copy its link location.. That’s the URL it’s located at. Then you just replace that link with the our example code link, and replace the xxxx. There is more info on image links and banner code on the forum.

I want to place the 728×90 affiliates banner on the
728×90 Monetization Bar, here is what I have done so far set up a new folder called banners uploaded the banner to this folder placed the following code into the 728×90 Monetization Bar, and saved only a box with a red x in it which tells me it can’t find the image? However when I put the above code into a browser address bar the image appears? I know that I have no link on this all I want is the image to show first will add the link later.
Am I missing something simple?
I can’t see any code. This type of question is really better suited for the forum. And you can paste code there as well. Here’s the fastestway to fix. Just use a draft post to upload, insert and link the banner. Then click the html tab, copy the html code and paste in ad box.
How do I get the actual code for the 728×90?
Just copy the code from the box above and replace the image names.
Hi Dan. I’m loving Socrates theme.. going live very soon! I’m promoting Socrates on my site & have the opportunity to display a banner on a friends site but he’s adamant it has to be 468 x 60 in size. Do you have one this size & could you email me the code please? Thanks kindly, Lee

Hi Dan! Thanks for the banner code earlier. I’m loving Socrates & still working with it & it’ll be on my TBA blog. Can I make a friendly suggestion…fingers crossed. I’m also going to promote Socrates via banner and page ads at ptc’s, T.E.’s, etc, to get folks to the destination “socratestheme.com” to watch the demo & order. Btw..it’s an excellent demo and it’s a nice home page too! I’m totally convinced once potential customers see the demo it will clinch the sale. Under “Find Out More” ..please could you increase the font size a wee bit more for “10 Min. Demo Video” …better yet.. instead, could you bold those words so there’s no missing them?
