New LinkedIn Icon For Top Ad Bar

We had a few customers request a Linked In banner for our Top Ad bar, so we made an icon today.

You can add this to the custom html box linked to your LinkedIn account and it will rotate with the other graphics.

In the next release of Socrates we will integrate Linked In and YouTube to the Social Media Panel.

I tried to use the new image LINK ME. When I input the HTML into the custom box, it shows blank in the rotator. When I leave the image out, the link appears by itself. So there must be something to do with where the image is stored and called from? Below is what I am using. Should I store the image somewhere else or do I need to edit an area somewhere? Thank you!

Troy, sounds like your image path is wrong.. make sure you can see image by bringing up url, then copy that url to code.

  3. Troy Warren says:

Thank you Dan. I did make sure that the image path was correct and the image displayed for the path that I was designating. Still did not work. The path was from another server where I store images.

However, I had another thought and I uploaded the image within my WORDPRESS area, and then used that path and now it works. So maybe that is a requirement. All works well now.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Dan,
Where do we get the HTML code for the Linked-In icon to post to our custom HTML Box? And how to make sure it links to our account? Didn’t see any code anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Steve

If you don’t know how to hyperlink an image, here’s a quick process to make a basic hyperlinked image using WordPress. Looks complex but takes 30 seconds.

Save the linked in image above to your computer by right-clicking and saving image.
Then in your WordPress dashboard create a new post.
Use Upload Insert media icon to upload image.
Select file from media gallery and in link url add your Linked In URL.
Choose no alignment and full size
    Insert into post
View HTML Tab and copy HTML
Paste into Socrates Custom HTML Box
    Discard draft post

If we’re linking to a Facebook page, shouldn’t the correct terminology be “Like Me” and not “Friend Me”?

What about YouTube? I’d love to link to my YouTube channel!

  7. Dan Nickerson says:

Jason, Facebook is most definitely “Friend” Their whole model is built around friending people via friend requests. YouTube will be built into next update. Here are more features coming in next update.

Dan…you are a genius…thanks for the step by step for getting the Link Me Button installed.

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for the step by step for LinkedIn…I was with you right upuntil the very last step…where do I find the Socrates Custom HTML Box? Sorry if this is a bonehead question – I only tend to ask these once!

  10. admin says:

You don’t need to do this for Version 2.03. LinkedIn is built in. But the custom boxes are at bottom of Layout panel

  11. William Avon says:

Hi – Are the images, headers, etc all updated in the new releases as they come out or do we need to add them as they are introduced here? Thanks in advance!

  12. Dan Nickerson says:

    They were in version 2.03

Well Dan – after hearing Joel Comm talk about Socrates last month at a conference I attended in Vegas, I finally stopped drooling over it and signed up today!! This theme is absolutely amazing – that coming from a techie Baby Boomer. I’ve always outsourced my blog set-up but Socrates allows me to create new sites on my own!!

P.S. I’ll have questions along the way, I’m sure but for now, I just wanted to say thanks for such a great product:-)

  14. Keith says:

    Hi Dan,
How about a matching subscribe icon to add to the rotating social media icons set, as gaining subscribers is the top priority.

    Thanks,
    Keith

  15. Dan Nickerson says:

    I’ll add to the list..
