If you have an unlimited license you can remove the footer code.

Find this code in

Appearance > Editor > footer.php

<?php if(!(is_page_template('squeezepage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_squeezefooterlogo'][0]) and !(is_page_template('salespage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_salesfooterlogo'][0]) and !(is_page_template('fullpage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_fullfooterlogo'][0])) { ?>
<a target="_blank" href="http://www.socratestheme.com/cb/go.php?id=<?php echo $analytic['click'] ?>">
<div class="bottomBar"></div></a>
<?php } else { ?>
<div class="bottomBarNoLogo"></div>
<?php } ?>

And replace with

<div class="bottomBarNoLogo"></div>

This works great in the original footer.php.

Is it possible to do this using the child theme?

Thanks,

Brian

Yes, just upload a modified footer.php to the child theme.

Hello,

I created a Child theme and implemented the above in a custom version of footer.php as you suggest. However, I get several include errors like so :

Warning: include(widgetLeft.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory...

Should I correct the path to these to look in the Socrates directory OR should I simply duplicate these files (widgetLeft.php, etc.) directly in the child theme's folder?

That is strange.. I would say show me the file but the simplest solution might be to just move the widget files as you say. So just copy them and put in child directory.

I made copies of the Widget include files directly in the Child theme directory. I am no longer getting the errors.

Thanks for your time.

I just purchased the unlimited license. from this statement: Option to remove footer link (if you don’t want commissions).
It does not look like the footer is conncected with any affiliate link and see nothing in the theme asking for it.
Do I have to do anything to footer to get commissions?

Hi pault,

Go to WP Dashboard > Socrates > Settings > Affiliate ID and Analytics, and put your ClickBank ID in. That will encode the footer with your ID so you can receive commissions.

Update: For those wondering which instructions to use to remove the footer link in 3.05, Dan's earlier post is still valid:

If you have an unlimited license you can remove the footer code.

Find this code in

Appearance > Editor > footer.php

<?php if(!(is_page_template('squeezepage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_squeezefooterlogo'][0]) and !(is_page_template('salespage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_salesfooterlogo'][0]) and !(is_page_template('fullpage.php') and !$custom_fields['_mcf_fullfooterlogo'][0])) { ?>
<a target="_blank" href="http://www.socratestheme.com/cb/go.php?id=<?php echo $analytic['click'] ?>">
<div class="bottomBar"></div></a>
<?php } else { ?>
<div class="bottomBarNoLogo"></div>
<?php } ?>

And replace with

<div class="bottomBarNoLogo"></div>

Wow,

I have the unlimited license. Am I to understand that the footer is an affiliate link which will earn me a commission if someone visits my website and clicks on the link and buys Socrates? I did not know this. If I understand this correctly WOWWOWWOW.

What is the downside?

Thank you for helping a WP, Socrates, Affiliate Marketing noob.

No downside! All you need is to have a ClickBank account so you can encode your ClickBank ID into the footer link.

Hi Dan

I'm trying to remove a Google + image I put into the footer and remove a socrates image too. At the moment there are several pages that show the google image, but the bar is off to the left like this: http://imgur.com/URexmB9

I've tried different combos of removing the above mentioned code but the gap between the bottom of the page and the white space is completely removed. Hope you can help!

Heres the page it's on: http://primalhealth.co/primal-health-seminar/

You must have put this code in footer.php, and should be able to remove it. Make sure you deactivate wp super cache and delete your cache as well.

<a href="https://plus.google.com/111311335336261550097?prsrc=3" rel="publisher" style="text-decoration:none;">
<img src="//ssl.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png" alt="Google+" style="border:0;width:16px;height:16px;"/></a>

If the bar still floats left see if you put an extra div in the footer by mistake. Also look at homestyle.css. Not sure what you're doing with that perhaps there's a conflict.

Yes I placed that in footer.php as instructed by google. I deleted the code as you suggested and yep it got rid of it, but the bottom bar was still over to the left. I decided to just make it like the other pages and add back in the socrates logo. Saves any more trouble. Looks fine now. It seems that was the only page I had that didn't have 'show socrates in footer selected. So all good :-) Thanks again.
