You can add these two lines anywhere in the style.css file, but change the hex codes to whatever color you want:

.im-sidebar { background-color:#000000;}
.im-sidebar2 { background-color:#FFFFFF;}

This is fabulous! I love adding color, but is there a way to color the entire sidebar? This code only put color behind the widgets. I tried adding an empty text widget hoping to extend color down the sidebar, but that didn't work.

Thanks in advance for your help. Again!

Is it possible to add a gradient effect?

This code isn't working for me. There is no difference in my sidebar when I paste this code into style.css. Any troubleshooting suggestions for me? Please!

Thanks!

In other posts on this topic I had said that it was not our intention to make it easy to change the colors of the container backgrounds.

Our intention is to help our users make more income which is why we hardcoded it to a white background.

Jon gave code that would change the widget area backgrounds.

If you have a desire to change the overall sidebar color you best bet would be to have this image altered.

You can color the section where your sidebar appears and it should run the whole length of the container. If you are using bottom widgets it will cover those too.

For Ms Lola's question can you share your link?

HI..i followed your advice here, i colored the bg-center.png file in photoshop and then uploaded it to my website...
what happens is it colors the entire thing, not only the side bar background but the post background too.

Sounds like you colored the whole image. You should only color the outside of the image.
