Text Spacing on a Page

In the help section this is stated: WordPress is producing valid XHTML 1.0 which means that inserting multiple line breaks (BR tags) after a paragraph would not produce white space on the web page. The BR tags will be removed as invalid by the internal HTML correcting functions.

I understand the above, but how do I get the appropriate spacing needed, especially when using images. Here is my page: knightbatmancostume.com (http://knightbatmancostume.com)

Where I have the red x's is where I need space and the red paragraph I need it under the Dark Knight Batman Child Costume image to the right.
