Home page showing entire post

When I go to wordpress and put "show 10posts" in reading section I see that 10 entire posts shows up on homepage. How can I change this to show only "summary and read more" of each post show up?

I just want summary of the each post not entire post on my homepage.

In each post insert the "read more" tag where you want the break to occur. It looks like a page with a horizontal dashed line through it on the toolbar.

Can you give me more detail instruction? I am kinda new to this. I know some other themes that does this automatically.

We have an incredible number of posts on this already. If you use the google search box above search for "read more"

If you wish to use excerpts instead of displaying full content on the main page, there are plugins like fancy excerpt, or you can modify our index.php template (which we don't recommend)

Finally, with Socrates 3.0 coming out we have new magazine layouts which will show excerpts on the main page.
