Sales & Squeeze Pages

Ok.. so excuse me if I ask a very dumb question. I've done tons of blogs and tons of sites. Have learned and seen that squeeze pages are a huge hit right now and want to implement them. But I have no idea how to do it. I see where it is when adding a page, but not sure what it does or what it will do.

Can someone explain in layman's terms?

And what is the "Salespage"?

Squeeze page is used to capture name and email address, usually in exchange for a free ebook or something. ("just enter your name and email to receive this free info")

Then you can use systems like www.aweber.com to manage the list of email addresses you collect. Then with as easy as sending an email to your entire list, you can promote products you endorse, using your affiliate ID of course.

Eric Holmlund has over 60,000 people on his list. Imagine he pitches a product that he makes 10 dollar commission on. He sends it out to 60,000 people and only 500 actually buy it. He just made 5,000 dollars. Not bad for sending out an email!

I know what a Squeeze page is, just not sure how this works on the theme.. or how to incorporate it..

In Version 2.0 Beta we have salespage and squeeze page support. They are created when you add a new page and select template from a drop down menu on right.

There are fields you can enter html, form and video codes to create salespages and squeezepages.

Note: we're fixing some bugs with these in the 2.0 beta.

Ok.. so I'm playing around with the squeeze page and sales page templates.

But when I put the code on either one of them for an Aweber or MailChimp form the form won't work. But the form works if I throw it into a regular page.

Can you tell me why? Here is what I did real quick. Ignore the poor look..

The vid isn't on autoplay. I just embedded a quick Facebook video to see how the squeeze page function would work. It will play if you tell it to..

The form not working is my main issue.. Doesn't work on the sales page or squeeze page.

This is part of the same error issue we're working on with javascripts.. we should have fix soon.. and obviously will be fixed for V2 final release..

Yes, using the Wordpress Visual Page Editor. Just click the far right icon that looks like a bunch of tiny squares lined up in 3 rows.

That opens up more text tools you can use in your pages.

Hi,

with the squeeze page, I've loaded in a you tube video... works great!

except if the viewer clicks on the youtube video on my sqeeze page, the veiwer is then redirected to the video on youtube... leaving my site & sqeeze page! any ideas how to prevent this from happening?

You Tube's goal by allowing users to embed videos is to generate traffic to their site. I'm not aware of a way to disable link to YouTube.

If this a concern, you can get a video player like FlowTube or Longtail Player and load videos from your site or a 3rd party like Amazon s3. This will enable you to control the video features.

I just purchased this theme, when I create a New Page there's no options on the right hand side to create a squezze page as it shows in the video. I only get the normal WP options. I got version 2.0+ but I bought it last week! do I need an update?

I'm having a problem getting images to show up in either the squeeze page or sales page. I've tried using the standard WP editor and am now trying ckeditor but seem to have the same issue with both. When I try to insert an image and then view the page, I just get a box with a little red x in it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Check to see that the settings media page shows wp-content/uploads. It is either that or some how the uploads folder and those below it are not set with read permission.

I have been away for a few days but had been practicing setting up new sales and/or squeeze pages and all seemed to work ok except for the images. Now, when I click on pages - then new - there is no drop down menue on the right side with the templates for sales or squeeze pages. (there is no menue at all on the right side) Not sure what happened to it.

Any idea where that went and what I do to get it back?

Someone else ran into a problem like this the other day. What it turned out to be was an option setting on the page editor screen. In the upper right corner of the page there is a tab labeled Screen Options. Open this up and see if the boxes got unchecked.

I clicked on options and all the boxes appear to be checked but still no menue on the right side. I'm not sure where it went.

I use an in house program for my newsletters etc called Mailloop. Now that I have moved to Socrates and WordPress...how do I set up a box to allow users to join my newsletter? (and leave their name and email address)
Previously in FrontPage, the customer would leave their name and email in a box, click 'submit' and the email/name would be collected by my program as it check for emails every 5 minutes from my web host email server.
Is there a widget or something that I can put/configure easily into my sidebar that will do the same thing? I don't use aweber etc

Does Mailloop provide you with an HTML form that will submit the information to their database? If so, you place that HTML into either a squeeze page or a sidebar text widget depending on your preference.

nope, mailloop does not provide a form.
it resides on my computer, checks the server every few minutes and then responds to my setup.
but the form must be done from some other source and when the customer clicks the send button, it should go to the email server where mailloop will check and collect and respond etc

ideas?

I understand the squeeze page, I want to put optin form there, but also on the sidebar of my blogs pages.

I need to be able to generate the optin form.

I checked out the Mailoop site and they state that their software will generate the opt-in form. Without purchasing it myself I have no way of finding out the details of how. I would look through whatever documentation they provide and if that doesn't answer the question see if you can get help from their customer support.

I created a Skinny Sales page, hit publish, but I get a 404 error message when I view the page. Get the same thing when I copy and past the URL in. Am I missing a step?

Hey there!

I'm new to Socrates. I have been blogging for over a year using a no cost Word press Theme. I decided to go with Socrates and I'm glad I did. I revamped my blog and it was easy to use. It looks snappy! :) The website for this is http://www.selfimprovementinformation.com

Here's my problem. I have written an e book and I'm wanting to use Socrates for the Sales page. Every time I go to the new page and click on sales page in the templates, the editing bar (I don't know what that's called) where I can bold, italics, etc. doesn't show the features for creating a sales page ie, headers etc. It stays looking like a new blog post page. :( I did click on the "new page" not "new post". The website for this is http://www.caring4youragingseniorcitizen.com. I must be doing something incorrectly. I couldn't find a thread that addressed this issue. My question is, how do I get this to show up?

We have tutorials on creating pages. Nowhere do we show or mention a different editing feature for creating salespages.

Our salespages work with the default editor, there's no extra tool.

If you just can't locate the "kitchen sink" tool, it's the icon with 3 rows of square buttons located at end of the row.
