Socrates Static site theme
From all I can gather, their seems to be some advantage with Google using a static site for your "Review Site", and then using WordPress sites for landing pages to drive traffic. I don't know if the present Socrates Theme program supports the static site, but I don't think so. It would be great to have one for this review site setup.

You can set a static home page and have other pages in the nav menu. This is effectively the same as having a static site with your posts as the blog content.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for the reply. This is good news...that I can use the WordPress Socrates Theme to duplicate a static site for doing reviews and maybe adsense.
Only one problem...I don't know how to do this.Lol Could you be so kind as to explain it to me, so I can do it. Many thanks for your good help...

Mike,
On the WordPress Reading page under Settings there is a selection for a static home page. Create the page you want for you home page and the go into the Reading page and select static and pick your page from the list.

Lynn,
Thanks for heads up on this. I'll use that for my next static site. I have one more question though please. I have noticed that many businesses use static sites and they don't look like WordPress to me. Why is that? It seems to me that a static WordPress site would be better, because of all the plugins and whistles you have. But I also read somewhere, that Google looks with favor on the standard static sites for some reason. Do you have any input on this to help? Thanks again for your good help.

Mike,
Actually Google loves WordPress blogs. It all comes down to doing the right things for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), both on-page and off-page. The static sites you are referring to just happen to have done things right. That is what is so nice about Socrates. It takes WordPress which Google already likes and does the right things for SEO. The only thing that tweaks it a bit better is the All in One SEO plug-in which adds some SEO features that a theme can't address.

Thank you Lynn for the heads up on the static vs. WordPress. Yes, Socrates is a big step forward for anyone. Can't wait to see some of the new features planned for it!
