More control over the Comments

I have talked with people who are using the Socrates theme and this comes up over and over.

It would be great to have more control of the comments display when comments are turned off.

My opinion comments are more of a WordPress issue than a Socrates Issue. Socrates does its best to turn some stuff off, but most of it is WP. I don't have any problems with disabling comments and then taking a few seconds to remove "comments are closed" Was there something else you were getting at?
