2nd page of Google in 2 weeks!
Hello there, everyone! I just wanted to share my excitement...my niche site, http://austinhealeycars.net is on the 2nd page of google for my keywords, which just blows my mind because I haven't even started working on the backlinking yet! WoW.
I can only imagine that it's the Socrates theme. I have other sites which have been on the web longer and only one comes close, but it's a squidoo page.
I didn't have any problems...well, I did have an issue with my own header, but I just ftp'd it to my webhost and didn't end up using it anyway.
I love the Socrates theme...love how easy it is to use, how professional it looks and the awesome support! All my sites are going to be Socrates sites
Thanks

I love Socrates
I love Socrates; as someone else said, they wish it had been out a long time ago. I messed with the first app to set up web pages, can't remember its name; It was published by a company - again can't remember Precurser to Adobe, think the publisher was Aldus which became Adobe which became Macromedia. Eventually it was converted to DreamWeaver which I used. Took forever to set up a web site. I've forgotten a lot of what I learned with Dreamweaver so gave the whole thing up. Then I found WordPress which was ok, at least the form I was using (a membership group which was also ok), but when I found Socrates, Wow!!! The sites are so nice and clean looking, not cluttered up with a lot of "stuff". Lots of white space is possible and it is so easy to use. The headers add so much to the overall look of the page.Such as setting up the navigation. I had made pages containing content; thanks to Dan's suggestion, i switched them to posts, then so easy to put the post titles in the navigation bar. And, last, support is awesome. So thanks guys; I know you'll keep up the good work. Forgot to put my present URL in: it is http://www.biologyofpain.com I am trying to set up a site dealing with pain; I know a lot about pain since I have "suffered" from chronic pain for a long time.

Comments about site: hopefully helpful
Hi, Saheem,
I am so glad you like the Socrates theme and that you got it on the basis of my testimonial (if you did, but am glad anyway). Your site is nice, the content is interesting. I have a question: why do you call the recipe: Mixed Berry Crumpet? since it is made with salmon,no berries and not exactly a crumpet from my idea of what a crumpet is. It does sound good, tho.
I am going to make a few comments if you don't mind; some will be a little critical, but will be helpful, I hope. First, as I mentioned in my post, I like a clean, not cluttered look to my pages. Yours are, to me, cluttered; too much stuff; maybe you can break some of the content into smaller sizes and use more pages (or posts). Also you have the titles of posts duplicated which is redundant and doesn't add to the visual appeal of a page. For me,I would like having a separate page for 1 or 2 recipes with links to those pages (posts) from the pages (posts) that you first mention them. You've done that already so you don't need to list the recipes more than once. Just one more thing, the font in the banner you have in the large code space comes up blurry, but it may just be my computer.
I hope you aren't upset. As far as the content is concerned, I like it; the recipes look good and I am going to try some.
And again; I am really glad you like Socrates; one of the nice things about it is that the sites are so easy to edit. So good luck. Let me know when you've made the site less cluttered, more white space. I learned about white space with less text when I was writing some lessons for my students with HyperCard. The Mac screen was small so the content had to be spread out more. Things look better that way.
Sincerely, good luck and take care,
tabithathecat
PS: I am saying "pages" and "posts" because i don't know what else to call the "pages"

I am still figuring out how to do the magazine style 2; however my site has looked the best with Socrates Theme.
Doing ok for a newbie. I truly like the idea of the rotational ads -AWESOME!
I should have gone with this theme two years ago!
Thanks Dan and Joel.
Warmest regards
Mike

How you liking Socrates these days? I downloaded the trial but honestly haven't determined if I really need it. I put one together just using default in Wordpress and it looks fine to me: www.askevasuzuki.com.
I also was told by my mentor that Thesis is the must theme to use, something about seo, etc. But for the life of me I can't figure out why. When I look at Thesis, all the sites look weird.
Hello! Glad to make your acquaintance. I hope to be of service to you in some way.
Sincerely,

Eva,
You need to do your own research on each theme. Someone else will tell another theme. I really enjoy Socrates. Support is fantastic!
Like anything else you need to take the time to figure some things out unless you have someone else doing the work. I looked at Thesis theme; however it looked very complicated to me.
Socrates theme allows me put out either magazine one and two layout which I like very much.
I also like the ability to put up rotating ads.
Best of luck
Mike
