Uploaded Header Question
I've looked on this in FAQ, but can't find my answer. A forum newbie.
I uploaded my own header in your header section, says it was uploaded. Why doesn't it appear in the Uploads box? It is correct size and jpg.
Thanks...
Chuck

We have a header upload issues thread in the FAQ.
Usually this problem is either.
Filename with numbers, spaces or punctuation in them.
Incorrect file permissions on header-images/uploads/ (should be 777)
Media upload folder not set in Settings > Media. (should be: wp-content/uploads)
-
I just posted a header question and saw the reply here. I went to FAQ and typed in the search term...header and nothing came up. I'm going to rename the file and see if it works. I think it is a numerical name right now.

I tried renaming the image. That did not work. I don't understand how to correct these problems.
Incorrect file permissions on header-images/uploads/ (should be 777)
Media upload folder not set in Settings > Media. (should be: wp-content/uploads)
-
Found this. It is correct.
Media upload folder not set in Settings > Media. (should be: wp-content/uploads)
That only leaves the Incorrect file permissions on header-images/uploads/ (should be 777), where do I change that?
Everything else is correct so far. Thanks.

The "Frequently asked questions" thread is right below the navbar. The "faq" link is for vbulletin related faqs.
To search the forum, use the search box in the primary navbar.
To change permissions you need FTP or file manager access. You would access the directory via FTP and change the permission.
This problem rarely happens if you installed Socrates via the wordpress dashboard. Did you install Socrates via FTP or wordpress?

installed through wordpress

I got into Filezilla...not my favorite place to be...I do see...
public_html/domain.com/wp-content/uploads in the upper screen and in the lower screen I see
2011 File Folder 5/4/2011 permissions 0755
I guess that is what I change to 0777 how?
Also, I don't know why the date is 5/4/2011 as I have tried to access it today, but anyway, please direct me how to correctly change it to 0777. I don't want to experiment. Thanks. Do I create a new folder and upload the header image into it or what? Hope I can understand your technical language.

Well, I uploaded the image and it did upload something to the Upload file, not what I intended though, it doesn't look anything like my image. Not sure where this image came from. It changed out the image in the header, but not the correct image. I still need to figure this out.

Okay, I did find the pathway, I'm writing it here for me as well as anyone in case I get lost again.... public_html/domainname.com/wp-content/themes/socrates/header-images/uploads
then I uploaded through filezilla the header image into the uploads folder, it was a .jpg image, then I went to uploads at the website and clicked on the image, I wasn't sure if it "took" as it didn't seem to do anything when I clicked it, but when I hit save it did save. The problem is solved. Thank you for the clues.
