Amazon Associate
Just curious Dan, if you are familiar with Amazon. Someone bought 6 books through one of my sites, with an average price of 8 bucks a book. It says only 1 has shipped and my cut was .30 cents.
Will that go up when the other 5 ship, or is that all I get?
-
I stopped promoting Amazon in the 90's because of the low commissions.. I would guess you'd get the rest when shipped, but don't honestly know.
-
Wow, the 90's. Makes me think of my first Rent-to-Own 486 that had a 28.8 modem. Those were the days!
-
I still promote Amazon on a couple of my sites where I find it difficult to find other suitable products, but the returns are so low that I will be ditching them soon.
Plus for some reason my visitor stats may show a 1000 visitors, and Amazon show only 1 or 2 clicks!
Find something else that pays better if you can Eric

Ya, I was thinking if another retail chain or supplier like Best Buy or whatever has a similar online store that I can embed, I will look into that. I hope this amazon purchase of 50 bucks pays more than .30!
Thats also why I started looking at higher priced items on amazon like laptops and digital cameras. But I think you are right, just too low.
UPDATE: 3 out of the 6 items shipped for total of $1.16. So it must pay as items are shipped.

I miss the days when if you wanted to load a picture you, clicked it... then went to lunch to give it time to load.

When I was in the Marines we had a field fax machine that worked 9600k. Lightning Fast!

finding other sources
Gentleman, I am just getting started promoting some things and see that you say to use other sources other then amazon. For electronics and households, appliances, what other sources do we have as an affiliate to promote from?
I mean I was taught to promote model numbers so how do I find others that will give a higher commission? Even cj.com doesn't give very high commissions.
-
I haven't really looked in to CJ. I am with www.pepperjamnetwork.com that is more CPA, cost per action, where many vendors pay any where from 8 to as high 33 percent for sign ups and purchases. Some programs just pay a few dollars for signups. One for I think its a quit smoking product pays 33 dollars. They give you banners and the whole 9 yards, might be worth looking into.

I've heard consistently good reviews of shareasale - and a caveat about cj
Signing up for shareasale is definitely on my to do list, they have CPA offers as well as physical goods. I have heard that Commission Junction will cancel your commissions if you do not earn a certain amount in a period.
