Issues like this are almost always plugin conflicts with the upgrade or a bad install.. It's important to make sure you update plugins before updating Wordpress as well.
If it was a Socrates issue we'd have 100's if not 1000's of complaints. It's possible, but with over 200 installs a day of Socrates someone would have mentioned it before now.. 3.3.1 has been out a while. However, you can try activating another theme to see if that fixes the problem.
Via FTP, you can move your plugins to a temporary folder to see if that resolves. Then move them back one by one to see if any break it.. You might also try re-installing Wordpress via FTP. Just extract the wordpress zip from Wordpress.org and upload over your existing files.
