Home Page Customization...
How do I set it up to where the home page only shows 1 post (the most recent post)... either the full post or a certain number of words with a "read more" link? Then, the next time I post it is placed on the home page and the old one removed? Is this possible?
So far, the only thing I can figure out is to make the home page a static page and have the blog point to the blog roll. I guess I'm asking if there is an in-between to what is currently available? I don't want a static home page, but I also don't want a ton of posts on there either.
Does that make sense? How would I do this?
Thanks so much for the help!
Cheers!
Shaun

You can make it a normal posts page and on the settings > Reading page set it to only show one post.

Ha! I feel like a dumby. That was easy. Thanks so much!
One other thing... How do I make a top level menu item just a place holder? For example... I want "Article Categories" on my main menu bar, but I don't want it to navigate anywhere if it is clicked. Then under "Article Categories" I'll have several categories listed that when clicked it will take them to that category.
I'm new to Wordpress and this is probably another simple fix.
Thanks for the help again!

Nevermind, I just figured it out. Thanks again!

In the same vein, I have ONE post that is sticky and should show when the visitor gets to the site. This works but it's also showing a ton of recent post snippets below that post?? They are even in a different category. How do I make Socrates show ONLY the ONE post that I designated as sticky?

Hi, could you share a link please? Thanks

Fred, will PM you as I really don't want to reveal my target niche here.
Thanks!

Have you tried setting # of Posts to one. settings > Reading page set it to only show one post.

Yes, that makes no difference at all. And that said, I tried that suggestion just to see if it would work, knowing that I do NOT want just 1 post to show on the non-sticky post pages.

You could have a static page for your home page and then a separate page for posts. This is set up on the Settings > Reading page.
