Can't upload Socrates - file size too big?

Hi,

I've never had this problem before...

I started a new domain, installed the latest version of WP 3.3.2 and tried to upload Socrates. It says "This file is too big. Files must be less than 1500 KB in size. Back"

Any ideas as to why this is popping up? Never had a problem before...

Our zip file is 1600 KB. You can ask your host about changing upload limits or you can extract Socrates and upload it via FTP. 1500KB is a small upload limit for a webhost.

Hi Dan,

I tried to find my post and update it, by I couldn't...

I actually had Wordpress Multisite installed instead of the regular wordpress... must have accidentally checked that box when I installed wordpress.

I deleted that install, did a correct WP install and everything uploaded fine.

I followed the instructions on the website which included deleting Socrates. Now I'm told to spend additional hours to follow this problem up and solve it or be left with the default theme. As far as I'm concerned the answer is not acceptable. I'm using Host Gator which has so many Wordpress sites that this must be a common problem, AND it appears to be a Wordpress problem, not a hosting problem, but I could be wrong.

I'll spend my time here to fix this, but frankly you should be spending yours. At least warm people they may have a problem BEFORE they delete the old theme in your instructions, not after.

Yes I'm sure about my answer. We have 1000's of hostgator users and file limit issues are a very rare problem.

You never mentioned the error that you received, so I'm unclear as to what problem you are having.

It sounds like you were following our upgrade instructions, so I'll guess that you deleted Socrates and now can't reinstall. Or did you delete your "old theme" which was not Socrates? I can assure you nowhere do we say to delete your original theme.

Can you clarify the following..

Were you trying to install Socrates for first time and followed the upgrade instead of install instructions?
Who told you to spend additional hours and on what?
Whose answer is not acceptable?
What should we be spending our time doing?
