Remove Comments Box

Yes, I know there are a lot of threads about this, but most of them seem to be older. I'm trying to completely remove any comments box or reference to comments at all. I'm setting my site up as a paid forum with a membership plugin and a forum plugin, and I don't need comments at all.

I've seen reference to go to the screen options at the top of the page editor, but when I click on that, there is nothing there at all. How can I remove the comments box?

First disable the comments in Settings > Reading

This will disable them for all future posts and pages.

Then in any post or page, goto Screen Options and look for "discussion".

If you see nothing as you say then you have an issue with your Wordpress install.
