Root directory

So Im having trouble registering my site with google, ping, and yahoo. I keep getting from them and also from alexa.com to Upload the file to the root directory of your site.
Whats the root directory and how do I get to it and install these files

BTW I have also installed the plug in Google XML Sitemaps and still none of the search engines are registering and indexing my site. Ive worked on this for 3 days now, Im at my wits end.

I'm sorry this post got missed. We're usually looking at the "Official Support" forum.

The root directory, is the place where you installed Wordpress on. It usually is www.yourdomain.com
