How can I make the left side bar the same width as the right side bar?

I am currently using the dual sidebar layout. I am using a 160X600 adsense ad in a text widget on the left side bar, but noticed that it is slightly cut off at the right end of the ad when I view it on my website. How can I make the left side bar wider or at least the same width as the right side bar so it can properly display a 160X600 adsense ad without cutting it off at the right side? I hope I am making sense?....I am a complete newbie.
