Default Optional sidebar in sales pagetemplate

    Hello,

I downloaded a plugin for email capture that requires the sidebar; if I want to integrate the email capture form into the page I drag and drop it into the sidebar as a widget. However, the sales page template doesn't have any sidebars. Is there a way to use the optional sidebar anyway so I can integrate email capture in the sales page?

Would be great to hear a solution.

Normally you would not have the functions of a squeeze page (list opt-in) and a sales page mixed. You would be better served by flowing from one to another.

Ok, thanks for your response. Is there any information available on how to do that? So what you say is you can use 2 templates on 1 page? That would be great.

No - you can't have two templates on one page. The more typical flow would be to have a pre-sales page that includes the opt-in form (squeeze page) and generates some excitement about your product. Have a link (preferably something graphic with a strong call to action) that when clicked takes them to the sales page. The sales page then makes the pitch and works to close the sale. Alternately you can have the sales page first and then link them to the squeeze page when they decline the offer (as part of a downsell) or after the sell (on a thank you page).

Ok, great. When I setup the squeeze page the only thing that it shows when published is a blank page. On the socrates website and on this forum I looked for information about how to setup but can't find it. Only the recorded webinar shows a bit but it's not useful.
How do I include an actual email capture form?

Have you signed up with an email autoresponder service like Aweber or mailchimp yet? That would be your first step. Aweber is the Cadillac service while mailchimp is free for small lists. Once you are signup up with one you can create the form with them and they will give you HTML code that you would put in the corresponding box on the squeeze page editor.
