    Perhaps some could elaborate on why they wish to remove page titles.

    The page titles are controlled in the index.php on the default templates, and if you're using no sidebars or the salespage template they have their own templates which the page title can be edited out of.

    If we know the "why" as to why you wish to remove page titles, we might be able to give a better solution.

    One of the beauties of Wordpress and Socrates is that you can name your pages anything and create your own page link in the navigation bar.

    Well, that is a simple answer...I don't like seeing the page title in the same space as the content that I am trying to put up. None of the other themes that I use on my other blogs displays this behavior. If it's a theme buster, then let me know and I'll use a different theme for this blog and save Socrates for a future blog. But, I REALLY hope that it is an easy fix!

    It's actually pretty rare for a theme to not have a page title at the top of pages.

    Here's a fix.

    1. Via FTP or your webhost's File Manager create a file in your socrates directory

    wp-content/themes/socrates/

    2. Name the file nopagetitles.php

    3. Paste this code into it and save.

    4. Go back to WP Dashboard, and open up a page you want to remove the title on.

    5. Look for the "page attributes" menu and select "No Page Titles" template and then update the page.

    6. View page to see if title is gone.

    <?php

    include "topAd.php";
    include "sidebar.php";
    include "sidebar2.php";

    <?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry &raquo;'); ?>

    </div>

    </div>

    <div id="commentsFrame"><?php comments_template() ?></div>

    Hello Dan. Thank you for asking.

    In my case, I'd like to be able to put a title on the webpage, and sometimes use a description, rather than the title in the "Pages" directory. For example, "Welcome To T.L. Figgs Consulting Online!" is the title on my 1st page, but I might want the Pages directory to list it as "Home."

    Not a big deal, but this would simplify site management for me a bit.

    The easy was to do this is to just exclude the page ID from the pages widgets and use our navigation panels.

    That's one of the reasons why we created the navigation panels.

    Hi Dan. Thank you for answering. Any chance I can get the kindergarten translation? I didn't understand the answer.

    I'm happy with my navigation links on the top nav bar. I just want to have one title show up on a web page and sometimes a more descriptive "title" in my "Pages" listing in the dashboard for my own private use. Hope I'm making sense.

    I'm afraid I don't have a simple solution for the renaming the dashboard pages description.

    Once I create pages and posts I very rarely if ever need to go back to them, and if so can find them using the dashboard search tool in seconds.

    Paste this code into it and select it from the drop down menu when creating a new page.

    Dan,

    Will this code still allow the name of the page to be displayed on the main nav bar? I want it to do that, but I just don't want the Page title to show up on the first line of content within the body of the page. Here's an example:

    www.socialmediasvcs.com/home

    I don't want the word "Home" to show up on the first line...but I DO want to keep it on my main nav bar and on the sidebar page listing.

    Also, if I insert this code, tell me again exactly where it needs to go...I didn't quite understand where you meant in your previous post. Do you go to Pages, Add New, and insert the code there somewhere? OR, go to Appearance, Editor and do something there? OR, neither? (sorry, I'm confused!)

    Thanks for the clarification, Dan!

    You can add any page you want to any nav panel in Socrates > Navigation

    To do this mod you need FTP access to upload the file in the Socrates directory.
