I'm not sure what the official way of doing this is but...

I would like to use a plugin called Tabbed Plugins.

It's supposed to allow you to create a sidebar widget with small tabs for menu items. It's by someone called Kaspars Dambis.

When I used it inside Socrates, it fails to create the menu tabs. I could forward my url on request.

I also tried some other tabbed widget plugins but had a similar problem.
